Background
Joe is older than the Lego brick patent and consequently had a Lego-deprived childhood. He finally received his first Lego set (Mindstorms Robotic Invention System 2.0) as a Christmas present in 2002. He has subsequently assumed control of his 4 grown children's Lego and Duplo collections - no motors, but plenty of bricks.

Joe received MS and BS degrees in Computer Science (in that order!) from Union College (NY) in 1976. Since graduation, he has been working at GE's Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY.

Build Style
Joe believes in building bots one brick at a time.
Quotes
The 3 Laws of Robotics (by Isaac Asimov)

(1) A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

(2) A robot must obey orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

(3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
